Found this while cleaning out my computer and thought I’d color it quickly for coloring practice and throw it up here.
It’s my three page contribution to the 'Sweetwater is Not an Asshole' anthology from 2009. Jeremy “Sweetwater” Mullins was my professor, mentor, and friend from my time at SCAD and he died way too soon (feel free to read more about all that on my old journal comic). So an anthology was put together in his honor.
Why the horrible neon color palate? Sweetwater did his own journal comic Sweetwater is an Asshole and he colored the whole thing with these disgusting florescent highlighters. So I thought I’d pay tribute to that craziness and the blast of color that he brought to everyone’s lives.
I still miss Sweetwater like crazy and I owe him so much (as do most people who had the pleasure of knowing him). Without him I’d never have started inkdick. I never would have gotten into webcomics and figured out how to use the internet as a tool to help my comics career. I wouldn’t have an online store. I wouldn’t know some of the people I now know and hold dear. I wouldn’t have any idea of what I am doing. I maybe wouldn’t even be doing comics at all anymore! So, yeah. He was a pretty big part of who and what I am today.
But enough of this mushy crap. If Sweetwater was still around he’d put me on blast, tell me to cut it out and to get back to drawing. So that is what I’ll do. For Sweetwater. Found this while cleaning out my computer and thought I’d color it quickly for coloring practice and throw it up here.
